I love you, I hate you and I am glad that you happened…2017

For the last two years, Wednesdays have been days I look forward to because of you. It’s Friday, this post should have come earlier in the week but well, life flashed a red light at us. So, I had to stop… a little.

This Christmas for me is about gratitude.

For all the little and big things that have happened. The planned and unplanned moments that totally worked out. The tough moments that didn’t break me. The painful moments that reminded me how important it is to stop and breathe. A couple of lazy days, that I just never felt like doing anything…

I am grateful for:

Family: Some days, I feel I could trade them for something else. But when God decided that no one picks the family that they are born in, He supplied enough grace, patience,a portion of your brain that forgets easily and swift feet that make you run back to them. At the end of the day, nothing feels good like family.

Amazing parents: I don’t see them as often as I should so I have learnt to call almost all the time and just remind them how blessed I am to have them. It’s magical especially when I tell my dad I love him. Half if not all the time, he thinks I am broke and that is the magical word to get some ‘food’ out of him. This Christmas is a bit different…

“Kamama, no whiskey this christmas.”

“why?”

“The doctor says I have had enough to serve me for all the years I have on earth”

“It’s Ok dad, let’s just focus on being healthy”

“Sure”

“I love you”

“I love you too Kamama”

Friends: These ones are stuck with me, because everyday they make a choice to have me in their lives. I love them because they are my guardian angels. They can tell when I am barely breathing, it’s interesting how I can post a picture and they all call to say, your eyes look funny, stop hiding it with the smile…why have you been crying or better yet…

“Hey Rael, it is so unlike you to read texts and not respond. Are you Ok”

“Yes”

“I doubt it,”

“Honestly, I am Ok”

“No, I am coming over with beer”

I have happier days that we share, though I only consider my friends as friends because they stick around in the storm.

You my dear readers : I don’t know how much to thank you. Two years of trusting and believing in a wild dream that is She’s A Tomboy. When counting my blessing, I count you twice.

God: Everyday is a gift and a chance to make the world a better place and we owe it all to God.
